David A. Flatley, President and Chief Technology
Officer, founded PXL Designs, LLC in the summer of 2006 as a natural
outgrowth of his freelance consulting business in the New York City
Metropolitan area. He has provided services, from graphic design
through multimedia and RIA (Rich Internet Applications) development,
to a large selection of clients in a variety of industries over the
past 8 years. Working as a consultant for such notable clients as
Fidelity, Fleer, Redmond Software, DRS Technologies, Merrill Lynch and
Selective Insurance has allowed him to acquire a comprehensive
background in a variety of industries.
With the emergence of Web 2.0 and RIA products such
as Adobe's Flash, Flex, AIR and Flash Media Server, PXL Designs has
established a core offering of technology solutions centered on these
products that enable our clients to evolve flexible applications to
meet both their current needs and future demands.
A major goal of PXL Designs is to give back to the
community by providing other developers with open source code and
components in order to further advance RIA knowledge and technologies.

PeekabooPaperie.com
PXL Designs and CAB Design teamed up to create
Peekaboo Paperie.com's new website and custom Baby Announcement
Creator Flex application. Peekaboo Paperie makes baby announcements
with personality, and the coolest part of the site is that it uses
Adobe Flex 3 to allow customers to check out their baby's pictures in
the announcement before they purchase.
The custom application handles a number of server calls to
create some highly useful and dynamic functionality for the designers
at Peekaboo Paperie. One example is creating a snap shot instance on
the server when a customer customizes an announcement and makes a
purchase. This enables the designers to view precisely what the
customer created when they made the order, and helps Peekaboo
Paperie's designers out immensely.
With their newly created, high-end custom
application, Peekaboo Paperie now has solid web presence that enables
them to reach the global marketplace and grow their business
opportunities. Check back for more updates in the future as we
continue to add to PeekabooPaperie.com!
MezzyShredder.com
Mezzy Shredder is a client of ours, a musician on
his way to fame and this site will certainly help him get the
exposure. This site's goal was to provide him with a means of sharing
his music, pictures and information online for his fans and serve as
his online portfolio.
The main objectives on this project were to provide
a 'cool' overall experience for the end user and keep the music
pumping throughout the site without interruption. Another perfect
project for Flex 2.0. The layout scheme allows the user to navigate
anywhere in the site and view pictures, read information, or contact
Mezzy without interrupting the songs.
The user can control the music at their discretion
and continue to navigate away from the mp3 player and find the
information on Mezzy that they're seeking. The ease of development
with Flex Builder allowed for Mezzy to receive a fully functioning,
interactive site in no time flat. Short of Flex, there wouldn't have
been any other technologies that could provide this quality in a
timely fashion for this client. Keep checking back to see the updates
as they come www.mezzyshredder.com.
Future updates to the site will include more songs,
pictures, and information and we're currently pulling together some
very cool video of Mezzy shredding it up to add at a later date. Stay
tuned for updates!
Tapper, Nimer, & Associates
PXL Designs has been fortunate indeed to have a
long-standing professional relationship with Tapper Nimer &
Associates, encompassing a number of ongoing endeavors. We provide
development assistance on a variety of Flash and Flex projects, RIA
applications and websites. Our latest collaboration has been the
Tapper Nimer website, which recently went live.
The success of Tapper, Nimer & Associates,
however, grew so quickly that Jeff Tapper and Mike Nimer have recently
merged with Mike Labriola to form Digital Primates IT Consulting. www.digitalprimates.net.
Jeff Tapper in particular has shared his guidance
and mentoring from the early days when we were co-workers elsewhere,
through the years of the Flash/Flex evolution.
Creative Perspectives
We were fortunate enough to work with Creative
Perspectives on some Flash projects. Their creativity and
professionalism makes them a joy to work for. You can visit their site
at www.creativeperspectives.com and take a look at
the long list of awards they have acquired over the years. |
